How does lost fit the conventions of a tv drama?

Lost is a drama about a plane crash on a mysterious island, the characters have to work togethor to try and save each other. In eposode one the main character, jack, wakes up in the jungle. Seeing as he is a qualified doctor he helps the injured and even helps a pregant passenger. He then meets another important character called kate who helps stitch up his wound on his back. They then travel through a valley in search of the cockpit of the plane to find an important radio to rescue them, they find the cockpit and inside they locate the radio and find one of the pilots is still alive. However the pilot is then killed by an unknown creature/animal in the jungle.

It fits many conventions of a tv drama, the program is in a series. It has plost that run throughout eposides and series. The main plot or narrative continues and is resolved at the end of the season. Key characters and plotlines are carried over in to the next series.
The same setting is used each week, the island they are trapped on. This is common in tv drama as the setting is not the main focus, although in lost it could be argued that the setting is most important.

A lot of music is used in lost to aid the affects of the drama that are used. for example at the start of eposode 1, the character jack is lying in some bushes and as he realises his situation and gets closer and closer to the scene of the crash the music builds and builds until he finds the wrecked plane and the injured passengers. This was sone to create a lot on tension and it worked.

The characters in lost stay the same each week which keeps the story lines regular.

Overall lost fits most of the conventions of a regualr tv drama although most aren't set on a remote jungle island!
